Sherwood school board to decide on levy Feb. 8
The Sherwood School District board of directors will decide Wednesday, Feb. 8, whether to send a local option levy to voters this May, and if so, the amount residents would pay.
On Wednesday, Feb. 1, the school board discussed the need for a levy to prevent cuts in teaching staff — and in turn, the likely rise in classroom sizes if the board decides a levy isn’t necessary.
At issue is how to restore a budget shortfall due in part to erroneous revenue projections that Superintendent Jeremy Lyon and Gary Bennett, the district’s chief financial officer, discovered last year.
